I titled this comic and then though of the Stevie Wonder song.  For a second, I thought maybe I should make a reference to it in the comic, and then I heard Hank saying, “Dude, do you know how many people would actually get a reference to THAT Stevie Wonder song?  Like 10.  Stick to the sight gag.”

Which is probably good advice.  But Stevie is teh rawk.

Felt like doing a splash today.  I know that it might work with Eva on panel, but I kinda thought it would be funnier to have her voice coming from above.

Poor Kevin.  I don’t know if Debbie ever got that gunk off of her, but I think this version is a little less drippy and a little more adhesive.  I was feeling in a mood to draw Venom-esque sticky-web-stuff this morning.

I think I’m going to have to do a Lou-centric storyline quite soon.  I’ve had one bubbling in my noggin for a while now, and I just saw an image today that reminded me of it.  Maybe in a week or so.  I need to give Milo and Hank a little more together time for the next few strips.

Hope everybody had a great week, and hope the weekend kicks much behind.  I’m buying stain for all the doors in my house tomorrow.  We got the doors delivered on Monday and they’re lined up like soldiers in the garage.  Extreme coolness, that.

Milo comics are back.  My trip to Ukraine had some really beautiful moments, but unfortunately at the end I got seriously sick.  Even sicker than I thought, because when I got back, I just stayed sick.  Had to go get some antibiotics from the doc.  Turned out to be some kind of travel bug and the Cipro hit the spot.  Feeling much better.

That’s not ALL of the reason I’m so late in getting back to this.  The other main reason is that I was unhappy with what I’d done for this strip.  Kept having to redo it.  Just not happy with less than good, and want folks to really dig it.  Hope it’s worth the wait, and don’t worry, I won’t leave you hanging again.

I’m trying out a new schedule.  Comics are going to be on Tuesdays and Fridays, because I just wasn’t happy with the way Mondays and Thursdays were working with my work and life schedules the last few months.  We’ll see if this is better.

So there.  I’m going to write more at length about the rest of my trip, which was very nice, but not much in the way of a vacation.  More of a visiting trip, which is important too.

In actual Milo news:  This was posted on Aintitcool.com the other day, and is a very nice thing for someone to write about my strip.

“…I found MILO THE CLOUD’s preview book and remembered how enamored I was with the simple concept of a chipper little cloud and his rambunctious friends: a balloon, a cardinal, and an emo girl. Milo seems to always be in pretty high spirits and often gets somewhat metaphysical with his other airborne friends. Although this strip is cuter than all get out,… it is also smartly written and cleverly humorous… If the strips in this book are any indication, I’m definitely going to be seeking out the truly original, undeniably cute, and devilishly funny MILO THE CLOUD. …Sean Archer deserves all the recognition he can for this original concept and excellent execution MILO THE CLOUD. Archer says there’ll be Milo plush toys on the way too…and dammit if I can’t help but want one of those! Read the webcomic from the beginning here and if you’re not addicted after a few hits you have a heart as cold as ice.

All of these things hinged on the planets aligning, I guess because none of that happened.  Instead, I painted two exterior walls of my new house, and I packed and packed, and then packed some more.

OH! and I painted more house.

I apologize profusely and promise that when we get back from our Ukraine trip, I’ll be able to focus more and draw more, and by fall, I’ll be putting out more toys and other goodies.  Really sorry, folks.  I know you know this is not my day-job, but that doesn’t mean that I feel it’s less important.  I’m just living, and learning.

When I’m writing love, I write Han and Leia.  Just happens.

“I love you.”

“I know.”

That’s not Lucas.  That’s the chemistry between Carrie Fisher’s Leia and Harrison Ford’s Han.  Lucas didn’t write it.  Harrison just said it on one take and it ended up working the best.  Because it’s true.  Leia loves Han because he’s Han.  He’s Han because he’s a good guy at heart, and loyal to a fault, but he’ll always smirk and give you a little jibe to remind you who shot first. (hint: not Greedo)  And behind that “I know,” is the knowledge that this is a woman who will call him on being ‘scruffy looking,’ and then go on to strangle a Hutt while wearing a gold bikini.

Or something like that.

Point is, folks,  love isn’t war, of any variety (including the star kind).  Love is fun.  Ask my wife.

Just don’t call her a nerd.  She’s a geek.  Like me.

Milo’s heart is in the right place.  Always.  But that doesn’t stop him from making some big mistakes.

So, sometimes you’re out with someone who’s just clueless, and doesn’t get when you close your eyes and wait.  Sometimes they’re not interested, and sometimes they just don’t see that well.  Which is it for Eva?  And who’s that stalking the happy couple?
